Elizabeth City’s Historic Ghost Walk, Albemarle Craftsman’s Fair, and ECSU’s Homecoming offer October fun.

Ghosts and apparitions flit and float throughout Elizabeth City at Historic Ghost Walk, now in its 22nd year. The annual two-day event takes place on Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13 from 5:30 to 9:30 pm so mark your calendar for a spooky good time that’s part history lesson, part live theater. The theme for 2018 is “Bluebloods and Carpetbaggers” and is certain not to disappoint as ‘ghosts’ of iconic deceased persons who’ve left their mark on Elizabeth City’s history make appearances. And on both nights of the tour, Elizabeth City Downtown, Inc. will host an Italian dinner at The Flour Girls Café and Bakery (102 N. Water St.; 252-331-2230). The cost of the dinner is $8.00 and will be served from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Entertainment will be provided and wine and beer will be available for purchase.

Historic Ghost Walk tickets are $15; $12 for active military and children under 12 and can be purchased at Arts of the Albemarle (516 E. Main St., 252-338-6455), Muddy Waters Coffeehouse (100 W. Main St., 252-338-2739), Page After Page Bookstore (111 S. Water St., 252-335-7243), and The Shoppes at Kenyon Bailey (407 McArthur Dr., 252-335-0257). Want to know why Elizabeth City is fast becoming the artisan crafts capital of North Carolina? Now in its 60th year, the Albemarle Craftsman’s Fair, one of the oldest events of its kind in the state, offers fine items and an opportunity to observe artists creating their wares. The fair will be held on Friday, October 26; Saturday, October 27; and Sunday, October 28 at Knobbs Creek Recreation Center (200 Ward St.) with hours on Friday and Saturday from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm and on Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The ticket price is $5.00 for a weekend pass that’s good for all three days of the show and seniors, students, and members of the military will be admitted for $4.00 per ticket. Parking is available for no additional charge at the Knobbs Creek Center and The Circle Restaurant will provide an on-site café so plan on having a bite between visiting the artists’ booths. Viking Pride will be on full display as Elizabeth City State University takes on Virginia Union University for Homecoming 2018 on Saturday, October 27. The festivities that day begin with a parade at 9:00 am with a route that starts 600 Westover Street and continues along Ehringhaus Street, Water Street, Southern Avenue, and Parkview Drive and ends on ECSU’s campus at the G.R. Little Library. Kickoff for the football game at Roebuck Stadium (1704 Weeksville Rd. at Herrington Rd.) is at 1:30 pm.
